Stop Food Waste Day unveils dates for 2025
The 2025 version of Stop Food Waste Day will take place on Wednesday 30th April. Stop Food Waste Day is now recognised globally in every corner of the world as people unite to educate, inspire and ignite change.
According to research 33% of all food produced globally is lost or wasted every single year. A quarter of the food wasted globally could be used to feed the 795 million undernourished people in the world.
A spokesperson for Stop Food Waste Day said: “Our mission is to ignite change regarding the global food waste problem. We do this by drawing attention to the issues, at the same time educating through engaging with society at all levels and sharing practical, creative, and impactful ways we can all change our behaviour to reduce food waste.
“Since starting out, millions of people have taken the pledge to end food waste, shared tips and hints about how to reduce waste at home and been involved in the global conversation around how we can all do more to reduce our impact.”
Stop Food Waste Day aims include:
- Prevent global food waste at the source by storing food optimally, making use of every edible part of the ingredient and planning meals ahead of time.
- Inspire everyone – friends, colleagues, local communities - to reduce food waste and repurpose more.
- Repurpose food by giving a second life to ingredients that most commonly go to waste, or by redistributing surplus food to your local community.
