Royal Surrey Foundation Trust secures NHS Chef of the Year 2024 trophy

Alejandro Hernandez and Manuela Miccoli from Royal Surrey Foundation Trust have been crowned the winners of the 2024 NHS Chef of the Year competition. 

The final, which involved eight teams from around the country, took place at The Cookery School at The Grand Hotel in York last week. The competition provides chefs with practical experience, mentoring and peer networking opportunities.

The competition is focused on chef duos demonstrating a healthy and nutritious menu which is low in carbon within a budget.

Hospital Caterers Association opens early bird bookings for Forum

The Hospital Caterers Association (HCA) Leadership and Development Forum, which is taking place next year from April 1-2 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, has opened early bird bookings for delegates.  

The Forum is the only national event dedicated to the production, delivery and service of nutritious food to patients, staff and visitors in the NHS.

Hospital catering stars honoured at HCA annual awards night

The Hospital Caterers Association celebrated star performers within the sector at its President’s Dinner, with a number of longstanding servants of the organisation honoured for their work over many years.

The Wilma Wilkie Outstanding Service Award was presented to Janice Gillan, a former HCA chair and the forum lead for this year’s Leadership and Development Forum taking place in Scotland.
