Unox launches fleX equipment leasing for public sector caterers

Combi oven manufacturer Unox has launched fleX, a new leasing solution designed specifically to support public sector catering operators in accessing the very latest cooking technology without the need for an initial high-investment purchase.

Through fleX, public sector caterers will now have access to Unox’s latest innovations the CHEFTOP-X, MIND.Maps PLUS and EVEREO product ranges through an all-inclusive monthly fee of £252.68 (based on three-year term).

Brakes launches ‘Get Set Supply!’ to support smaller suppliers

Foodservice supplier Brakes has launched a new initiative to support small businesses that want to start supplying wholesale.

Brakes says that ‘Get Set Supply!’ is set to be the ‘most comprehensive support programme’ for smaller suppliers entering the wholesale market.

Following an online application process, around 12 shortlisted companies will be invited to a quarterly innovation session attended by customers and key procurement contacts. Successful suppliers will be selected to have their products listed.

Premier Foods receives new SBTi validation for net zero targets

Premier Foods has announced that its near-term, long-term and net-zero decarbonisation targets have now been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

These targets adopt the new Forestry, Land use and Agriculture (FLAG) standards from the SBTi. Premier Foods says this demonstrates the importance they continue to place on science-driven measurement and detailed disclosure of greenhouse gas emissions to drive actions to better address global climate change. 

Wholesaler Brakes launches Make More of Mutton campaign

Foodservice wholesaler Brakes has launched a new campaign that aims to encourage chefs and caterers across the hospitality sector to make more of mutton.

The campaign showcases the benefits of mutton, which Brakes says offers a richer flavour and tenderness, especially when slow-cooked.

It includes the launch of a new range of like-for-like mutton cuts to match chefs’ favourite lamb products, such as racks, joints, chops, mince and diced. A new section on the website offers recipe inspiration as well as information on the products available.

Apetito invests in dedicated sorting facility for ‘Project Boomerang’

Building on the success of its closed loop recycling scheme for meal trays, Apetito has further advanced its programme through investing in a dedicated sorting facility – increasing operational capacity and supporting the scheme’s continued expansion across its customer base.

The business has recycled over 40 million trays nationwide since it began in 2021. ‘Project Boomerang’ involves Apetito collecting back its washed, used PET meal trays directly from customers and sending them to a specialist recycling facility in the UK.

BonCulina bolsters portfolio with purchase of dysphagia drinks initiative

BonCulina UK, a specialist in healthcare and care mealtime solutions, has agreed the acquisition of Refreshment System’s dysphagia-friendly drinks initiative. 

The Fit project aims to support hydration for individuals with swallowing difficulties in healthcare settings. The solution has now been fully integrated into BonCulina’s Thick&Thin offering—an expanding offer of texture-modified drinks designed for patients and care home residents with dysphagia.
